Is there a charge to cancel my reservation?
If you have made a prepaid reservation you will be charged a cancellation fee. The cancellation fee will be up to the first 3 days of the rental rate. If the rental is less than 3 days, it will be the full rental. However, you can change the reservation to another date for free.
How Much Notice Do I Need To Give To Cancel A Reservation?
Cancellations can be made at any point prior to the start of the rental. Please note if a prepaid reservation is not cancelled prior to the start time and then not collected, the rental amount will still be charged to the customer in full.

What Is The Fee To Amend My Reservation?
Advance Vehicle Hire offers you full flexibility so that you can stay mobile and make your travel plans with confidence. Bookings made with the "Pay online" option can be changed for only £0.01. If your change leads to a price increase, only the difference in tariff will apply. No additional rebooking fee will be charged. If you booked with the "pay later" option, then you can change your reservation as any time with no additional cost.
How Much Notice Must I Give To Amend A Reservation?
1. Prepaid amendments must be made at least 48 hours prior to the start of rental.
2. Amendments to flexible bookings must be made at least 24 hours prior to the start of rental.
Please note all amendments are subject to availability and current pricing.
Is Smoking In The Hire Vehicles Allowed?
No, it is Illegal to smoke in all rental vehicles.
Are Pets Allowed In The Vehicles?
Yes, Pets are allowed in vehicles, provided the seats are covered, or the animal is kept in a cage/carrier. Please be aware a vehicle cleaning fee may be applied should the vehicle return soiled.
Does The Vehicle Come With Fuel?
The vehicle will be provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned full, otherwise our current refuelling charge will apply.
Can Vehicles Be Delivered And Collected?
We offer a delivery and collection service to customers for an extra fee. Contact your branch for more information.
What Should I Do In The Event Of A Accident or Breakdown?
If you are involved in an accident please immediately contact our 24 hour incident support line, who will talk you through any further action: +44(0) 333 880 2651.
Please be advised, failure to notify us within 12 hours of your accident or breakdown may result in you being responsible for any costs incurred
What Do I Need To Do Before I Drive My Hire Vehicle Away?
Yes, It is important to check the vehicle before you agree to sign the Pre Rental inspection (PRI) document, as this lists all pre-existing damage and is used to determine if there is any ‘new damage’ to the vehicle upon return.
What If I’m Not At Fault For An Accident Or Damage?
Ensure that you get the other party's contact information so we may pursue them and/or their insurance company on your behalf for damages. Please note that our pursuit of the other party does not absolve you from your contractual obligation to pay for the damage.
What Documents Do I Need To Hire A Vehicle?
When you rent a car, you need to bring the following documents:
1. A full driving licence. (UK customers must include the printed endorsement record or the code obtained from the DVLA website here for all named drivers, with details of all endorsements.) Driving licences printed with non Roman Alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, Cyrillic etc) must be complemented by an International driving licence.
2. 2x forms of proof of address, e.g. utility bill or bank statement (dated within the last 4 weeks?.
3. Credit or Debit Card.

Can I Be Guaranteed A Price Once A Quote Has Been Given?
No, because our quotes/rates/prices vary throughout a day, depending on the availability of our fleet.
How Often Do Rates Change?
Rates can change at any time and/ or date, depending upon vehicle availability
Can The Price Of My Reservation Be Changed Once My Booking Has Been Confirmed?
No, once you have confirmed your reservation booking, the price will not change unless the booking is amended.
What Is A Prepaid Reservation?
A prepaid reservation requires full payment for your rental at the time the booking is made, whether you confirmed your booking online (via our website), through an third party Agency (paid to the Agency) or on the telephone. Normally the prepaid rate is less than the pay on arrival price.
If you cancel a prepaid booking, a cancellation fee will apply and this could be up to the full cost of your rental.
How Old Do I Need To Be To Hire A Vehicle?
23 years and held licence for a minimum of 2 years
Can I Hire A Vehicle Even With Points On My Driving License?
Advance Vehicle Hire generally accepts a licence with up to 6 points valid on your driving licence. This can vary depending on the endorsement code. There are some codes that would prevent you from hiring from Advance Vehicle Hire, e.g. if they were earned for a serious offense.
For some non-severe offences ( e.g. SP30), drivers aged 23 and over can have maximum of 2 offences that carries 3 in the past 4 years to be able to drive.

Can I Return The Vehicle Outside Of Office Hours?
Yes, you are able to return the vehicle outside of office hours. There is a additional fee for this and the vehicle is still your (The hirers’) responsibility until a member of staff has closed your hire agreement.
Will I be Covered On My Own Insurance?
No – Personal car insurance within the UK does not cover rental cars
Who Is Responsible For Parking Tickets And Traffic Fines?
The hirer of the vehicle is solely responsible for any traffic offence fines and related administration fees incurred during their rental period.
When Does The Congestion Charge Apply?
The charge applies every day of the week, between the hours of 7.00am to 10.00pm, excluding Christmas Day(25th December).
How Do I Know When I Need To Pay Congestion harge?
You will know when you are entering and leaving the congestion charge zone because you will see congestion charging signs on or at the side of the road.
The sign is white with a red circle, which has a white letter 'C' inside it. There is a sign that also indicated the end of a zone when you are about to leave the charging zone.

How Much Will The Congestion Charge Cost?
It depends on when you pay:
• The congestion charge is £15 per day, whether you pay in advance or on the same day.
• The congestion charge is £17.50, if you pay by midnight 12.00am of the third charging day after travel. If you fail to pay by midnight of the third day, you'll receive a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN).

What Is A PCN (Penalty Charge Notice/Parking Charge Notice?
Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) are issued to motorists found to be in contravention of parking restrictions, waiting restrictions and some moving traffic offences that are treated as civil, not criminal, offences.
Does Advance Vehicle Hire Charge Administration Fees For Handling PCN’S or Traffic Offences?
Yes, for every traffic offence or PCN Advance Vehicle Hire process, an administration charge will apply.
Administration charges for the handling of traffic offences are common business practice and industry standard.
Please check with our Traffic Fines department for the amount you, as the customer/driver will be charged at the time of application as our fee amount is subject to any increase/change as we review this periodically, against other rental suppliers/competitors, to ensure these charges are competitive and reasonable.
